THE SUN AND THE MOON | THE RED/GREEN LION
MERCURY | THE KING AND THE QUEEN

Please read as much of the Introduction to Jungian Alchemy as interests you or look it up on a search engine to learn about it your own way.

Alchemy strives for the experience of spiritual rebirth via the union of opposites, or the sacred marriage.  The sacred marriage is characterized as the union of the Sun (+) and Moon (-).  These polarized positions may be symbolized variously as positive-negative; yang-yin; male-female; god-devil; spirit-matter; father-mother, etc.

THE SUN AND THE MOON

Alchemy is the process people used to explore the world of the physical sciences. It came before chemisty. Alchemy and chemistry are related to each other like astrology and astronomy.

The Sun and the Moon represent the inner male and inner female in their most conscious form. When you think of how you run your life when things are running well ... you are the King or Queen of your World. In developing our intuition, we need the cooperation of our conscious selves. The King and Queen are always present. They help guard and make us stable as we learn new things. Their relationship with one another is very important.

THE RED/GREEN LION

The Green Lion (or Red Lion) symbolizes the onset of depression. Read about SPIRITUAL JOURNEYS of my readers and see how many of them began their spiruitual path in a dark depression. You can comment on this in the feedback form below if you like. I'd love to hear about your spiritual journey so far.

MERCURY

The figure of Mercury, the winged messenger of the gods, is used in alchemy to represent that which is being worked on. He is sometimes symbolized as a little child. This represents you and me as we begin to work on ourselves with listening to our intuition. This is a different part of us than the King or Queen. It's the part of us that's going to change.
