Symbols - Part One
Intuition
is an elusive quality. Believe me I know. I've been trying to find good
ways to explain it clearly to people for over 25 years -- not only what
it is, but what it isn't. Intuition is not "hearing voices"
or "seeing things". It is a strong inner KNOWING. If you've
never had the feeling, you won't believe it is real, so there is no point
trying to convince someone of its existence. If they are ready to open
their Third Eye, to see what is plainly before their own eyes, they can
learn. Otherwise, the sage does not waste his breath. Let's look at some
of the symbols through which intuition communicates. Suppose I am deep
in thought wondering (not worrying!) whether I should move ahead and suddenly
I look up and see this symbol:
the green
light
If I looked
up just at the moment the light turned green, I would take this as a symbol
to go ahead with my project. Another way that intuition uses in nature
metaphors. The ancient Romans used to read bird flights and I will do
this sometimes, too. Suppose I am wondering if my boyfriend will come
back to me and a hummingbird flies right into my face and hovers there.
The answer is yes.

Or suppose
I am asking myself the same question, greatly in need of reassurance and
a hawk hovers overhead and dives for prey. Not a good sign at all!

Not a good
sign at all but better to find out now that they guy is a predator than
later. Don't be afraid of intuitive symbols and "signs". They
are always there to help you. It's one of the best ways in this troubled
world to get safe and stay safe.
Changes in Things (Energy)
Especially
if you don't remember or understand your dreams, (ONLINE DREAM COURSE)
the universe
has a limited number of ways to reach you. Another way is to release some
energy in the form of things dropping, breaking, cracking, interruption
like an abrupt knock on the door, the whistle of a bird, the sound of
a siren.
Here
are some examples.
Cheryl
Synders was at my house asking about her future. She felt her life had
come to a standstill. As we were speaking, suddenly there was a commotion
on the street and we saw an entourage of moving equipment escorting a
large truck carrying a small house on its open truck bed. Traffic was
blocked off and the noisy, exciting parade took quite a while to move
slowly past. Although I was reading Tarot cards, I could have thrown the
deck away.
Is Cheryl going to have major changes in her life?
What
kind do you think they will be?
How
do you know?
Comments:
Some might read this symbolism literally, thinking she will move. This
is possible but it is an awkward use of intuition which normally suggests
and implies rather than s p e l l s it out since that would be another
use of the brain.
It
is more likely that she herSelf will be changing since houses represent
or symbolize the Self. At any rate, the change will be "big"
and "obvious" and "noisy" which symbolically means
at some point she may feel others are in control of the "reconstruction",
not her.

I
will give you two more dramatic examples. Not everything is a matter of
life and death but these are unforgettable examples which will help you
remember the principle.
I
was reading for Jeri Potrero at a local cafe. We had beverages sitting
on the table as we spoke. She was asking about a relative who had just
been arrested for pornography on the internet. As she spoke, the Devil
card, one of 78 in the deck, which symbolizes unconscious forces at play,
began to curl up until the edges met together in the middle. We
looked at each other silently. The next day the man committed suicide.
The
card curled because there was moisture on the table. I figured this out
later. That is the rational explanation. But the energy brought this occurrence
together with our question in something Carl Jung called synchronicity.
Carl Jung is the king of intuitive psychology. For a balanced discussion
of his contribution, visit Carl
Jung.
Another
dramatic example. A young relative had been on drugs for several years.
I had established an altar where I turned my concerns for her over to
God. There was a small statue that represented her on the altar. Her father
called to tell me she had overdosed and was being treated in the emergency
room in a distant state where she had fled earlier that year. I went to
the altar to light the candles. As I did so, the light went off abruptly.
My hand shook and I broke the little statue in my distress as I tried
to light the candles.
Tragically,
this young girl died.
Don't Force Things
Another way
intuition guides us is a way that is difficult for alpha-type, aggressive,
right-off-the-frontier, make-it-happen, in-your-face, Americans to understand
is by subtle hindrances.... And not so subtle hindrances.
Here is a
hilarious true story. (All my stories are true, by the way. My work over
the past 25 years has given me a wealth of examples.)
A couple
fought over vacation plans. This was because Martha wanted a "real"
vacation and Dennis wasn't interested. That's it in a nutshell. You know
some people have their reasons for never wanting to do anything or go
anywhere (!) Anyway, Martha nagged, prodded, cajoled, pussy-whipped and
manipulated Dennis into taking her on a Caribbean Cruise out of Galveston,
Texas on the Royal Caribbean cruise line. They missed their connecting
flight (mirabile dictu) and were late getting to Galveston. They
missed the ship so they flew to Grand Cayman to connect there but the
ship had sailed to Belize instead to avoid a hurricane. They were stuck
on Grand Cayman for two miserable days riding out the hurricane.
The moral
of this story? Don't push so hard. And, on another level, don't manipulate
anyone into anything as it will always backfire like this. Women are particularly
at fault with this.
Can you think
of an example of pushing too hard when your intuition was telling you
not to? Can you think of an example where you forced it and got it, but
it cost you more than you were willing to pay? Please comment.
