COLOUR THERAPY

Colourtherapy (or chromatherapy) is one of the alternative healing therapies which makes use of the impact of colours on our whole being. Each colour of the spectrum has a different wavelength, frequency and therefore influences our system differently. It influences our brain, biochemical system, hormone production and consequently our mood and well being. We all are attracted to certain colours and most of us change colour preferences quite often. In spite of fashion's dictates, the choice is mostly irrational and emotional. It usually reflects our deeper needs, the qualities of the certain colour we need most at the moment.
The impact of coulours on human beings has been well known for ages and fascinated many - artists, researchers, psychologists, later fashion, interior designers and marketing experts. One of the best known psychologists interested in the effects of colours on human behaviour was Dr. Max Lûscher. Results of his research are still being used worldwide among psychologists. You can test yourself according to his method here, for free www.colorquiz.com.
If you are more philosophically and at the same time poetically oriented, I recommend a unique book by J.W. Goethe - Theory of Colours.

C.G.Jung was deeply interested in mandalas, considered them as a symbol of "self" - ultimate unity of the personality.

Mandalas should be drawn in meditative state or while watching inner dialogues. The selection of coulours is evaluated afterwards. Each colour used in the drawing has its deeper meaning and symbolizes some part of the inner world.

Professional colourtherapists use special equipment -- lights, stained glass, foils, or solarized water (water in a transparent stained glass left in the sun for a few of hours and then drunk or used in a bath), or suggests foods of a certain colour.
You can do your own colourtherapy by learning the effects of each colour and using the information consciously in your everyday life - choosing clothes in the morning, accessories, paint for the walls, furniture, make-up, curtains and pillows, towels and bedclothes or bed cover, gemstones, glasses, candles, colourbath, coloured light bulbs ... the.possibilities are endless. You can use many of these professional methods at home. When you are outside, your body chooses the colours it needs the most from the light spectrum provided by the sun.
Since our minds create our reality, using meditations and visualisations with colours adds powerful effects to your healing process and personal growth.

Visualisation
The oldest meditation techniques and modern relaxation methods use the power of colours. Here I will give you one example of a simple, but effective visualisation.
I do not recommend usinthe colours black, grey and brown for visualisation since they do not belong to light color spectrum - look at a crystal when the sun shines through! The appearance of black, grey or brown colours in one´s aura shows weakness or illness.
Try to remember the colour you have chosen - keep looking at it for a minute, so it will stay in your mind when you close your eyes. It might be a problem from the beginning, but it´s only matter of practice, so don´t give up!
Close your eyes, inhale and exhale deeply from your belly three times. Count to 3 in your mind between inhaling and exhaling. After three times continue breathing normally. Visualise a stream of light in your chosen colour pouring from high above onto your head, entering your body, running through all your body parts and organs, relaxing all your muscles, getting into the centre of the bones. With each breath, breathe in the colour light as well. Let it fill your whole body with that colour light and follow this with your mind, as the light stream continues through your feet down to the ground, taking all negative energies and tensions into the earth where they neutralise. Stay in the flow, till there´s no cell in you which wouldn´t be full of that colour. Relax and let yourself be influenced by the positive qualities of the colour as long as you wish. If the colour changes to another during the visualisation, let it change, or change it yourself when you feel the need intuitively.
At the end, visualise, that the colour is making a protective shield around your body which will work as a barrier from outside against negative influences for that day, or longer.
Do as often as you wish and enjoy its positive results!

How to choose?
It´s very simple - intuitively choose the colour to which you feel most attracted. You can´t go wrong! Below I describe the basic characteristics of the colours, their effects and tips for practical use.
Also you can consult the HEALING COLOR CHART to find the recommended color for a particular problem you're having.

WHITE
White is one of the non-colours, because it contains all the colours of the spectrum. Therefore it is considered universal.
It´s the colour of ultimate freedom, truth, goodness, purity, innocence, angels and healers. It´s soothing and relaxing and purifies the intellect, emotions and spirit.
Not many of us feel like wearing white all the time, because it also opens us to all influences from the outside environment. Wear white on long holidays, weekends, every time when you have enough time and space for yourself or need to recover from stress and gain energy for new beginnings. Too much white in interiors may cause feelings of isolation and coldness. If your have been painted all white for decades, consider adding more colour to your life. Even adding a few drops of another colour to the paint will soften the atmosphere of your home. Visualising a white energy shield around your body works as universal protection against negative energies.

Silver is another universal healing colour. Silver is connected with the Moon, receptivity, the feminine and intuition. When used in visualisation, it sometimes spontaneously takes on hues of beautiful opalescence or the rainbow spectrum, for it´s very close to white, but reflective. Gold visualisation helps fight against depression and apathy, gives an abundance of optimism, feelings of happiness, prosperity and faith. Create a gold mental shield around your body when you feel threatened by someone and need special protection together with strong self-confidence.
Gold, silver jewels and objects have similar qualities, but a weaker effect than visualisations and meditations.
